Reinventing Homemade Food Delivery Across Borders

Overview:

Phoodee was born in Singapore as a home-cooked food delivery platform, built to connect customers with trusted home chefs. As Co-Founder & CTO, I led the entire tech roadmap—from ideation and product prioritization to managing partnerships and platform scalability. After strong early traction, COVID restrictions forced a pivot. We then relaunched in India under a new avatar: Moms Meal, piloting the idea in Rajahmundry while adapting to the local market needs.

Challenge:

Building trust in home-cooked food online, especially in a market dominated by restaurants.
Ensuring smooth delivery logistics with limited resources.
Adapting rapidly when COVID disrupted operations in Singapore.
Relaunching in India with lower budgets, localized preferences, and new operational complexities.

Solution:

We built and launched two full-stack platforms tailored to each market:

🌍 Phoodee – Singapore Launch:

Mobile Apps: iOS and Android apps to browse, order, and track home-cooked meals.
Authentication: Twilio-based OTP system for secure login.
Payment Gateway: Stripe integration for easy, international-friendly checkout.
Delivery: Integrated with Rida, Milkrun, and Panda Go to manage last-mile delivery.
Notifications & Chat: Real-time chat and push notifications via Firebase.
Marketing Automation: Connected with Mailchimp for order emails and re-engagement.

🇮🇳 Moms Meal – Indian Relaunch:

Rebranded & Relaunched: Reimagined Phoodee as Moms Meal for the Indian market.
Payments: Switched to Razorpay, a widely accepted PG in India.
Custom Delivery Partner App: Built an in-house delivery app to manage local deliveries and optimize costs.
Localized Features: Designed the product experience for Indian consumers—language, payment flow, and navigation.
