Digitizing Rural Employment for Job Card Holders

Overview:

My NREGA is a pioneering e-Governance initiative launched by the Barmer District Administration in Rajasthan to digitally transform how rural workers under the MGNREGA scheme apply for and track employment. It empowers Job Card holders with a simple mobile app to apply for work from their homes, while enabling Panchayat and district-level administrators with tools to streamline operations and monitor performance.

Challenge:

The traditional system was completely manual and paper-based:

Job cardholders had to visit their local Panchayat office to apply for work in person.
There was no way to track the status of applications, causing repeated visits.
Manual allocation and attendance processes led to inefficiencies and potential fraud.
District officials lacked actionable insights into Panchayat-level delays and approvals.

We developed a robust, multi-platform solution focused on ease-of-use, security, and transparency:

Mobile App for Workers:

Apply for work digitally in seconds, anytime, anywhere.
Receive notifications on job approvals and assignments.
Access job history and status updates in real-time.
Unique QR Codes are assigned to each Job Card holder for secure attendance tracking and fraud prevention.
Multi-Language Support: Available in both Hindi and English to ensure inclusivity across user segments.

Web Dashboard for Administrators:

View, filter, and manage job applications Panchayat-wise.
Assign work in bulk and monitor active applications.
Visual analytics and heatmaps to identify delays and underperforming Panchayats.
Helps ensure timely approvals and transparent governance.
